Pumped Up and Pedaling

Matt Glenn, SABR Board President

Last weekend I left the winter commuter bike behind, pumped up my road tires, and made my way to Dover Point to join about 20 other riders for SABR's monthly Coffee Outside.
On my way to the Rowe Bridge multi-use path (which has “temporarily” replaced the General Sullivan), I explored a new bike path that goes past the DOT maintenance facility alongside the Spaulding Turnpike (NH Rt 16).
The path connects Woodbury near Arboretum Drive to Mitchell’s Gulf station, and makes a more direct route for Portsmouth-Dover commuters than the Fox Point-Arboretum cut-thru. Unfortunately the signage has not been updated and some riders heading to Coffee Outside were unable to find it. Visit our blog for details about this path.
I like to chat with other riders about their preferred routes, and it got me thinking about the places where inexpensive wayfinding could go a long way. We’re in touch with the folks at Rockingham Planning and NHDOT about this, and if you have ideas about other places wayfinding is needed, write to us.
Please join us this spring to help organize our advocacy efforts, fix bikes for the SPIF program, ride together, and talk routes over coffee! As the warming weather encourages us to get our bikes rolling, we are encouraging you to donate to support Seacoast Area Bicycle Riders! Our all-volunteer organization needs to raise $16,000 in 2025 to support our programs, events and Seacoast Pedal It Forward. Your financial and volunteer support is essential! Thank you for donating now!
If Your Spring Cleaning Unearths A Bike or Two... Seacoast Pedal It Forward (SPIF) is Accepting Bike Donations!

Thanks to all who have generously donated bikes and to our super volunteers who refurbish them! We have distributed more than 30 bikes so far this year.
If you have a used hybrid, city bike, or mountain bike gathering dust, we can refurbish it for someone in need of transportation. Adult tricycles are also in demand.
Email SPIF@seacoastbikes.org to arrange drop off, usually on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, at Port City Makerspace.
Don’t have a bike to donate but still want to help? It costs an average of $35 per bike to refurbish it, then equip each with a helmet, lights, and a lock. Please consider supporting the SPIF program. Email us at SPIF@seacoastbikes.org and learn more about Seacoast Pedal It Forward here.
