April and May are great times to ride and also a busy time for SABR! Our volunteers have been active at events around the Seacoast, providing safety information, attending public meetings, and repairing bikes for Seacoast Pedal It Forward. Coffee Outside is in South Berwick this weekend, we’ll have a burrito ride in Dover in May, and another Portsmouth Mayor’s Ride… join us!
Your Donated Bike Pedals On For Someone In Need Of Wheels
Spring brings bicycle swaps around the Seacoast, and opportunities for riders to get new and used wheels.
Sometimes bikes donated to Seacoast Pedal It Forward are special or in great shape, and we may determine they offer the most benefit to SPIF if they are sold.
With proceeds from those sales, we purchase not only repair materials, but also helmets, locks, and lights – all of which come with every bike we give out – at a cost of about $35 per bike.
Our thanks to Papa Wheelies in Portsmouth, who helped us sell six bikes at their recent bicycle swap.
Also, a big shout-out to the bike owners who donated bikes to SPIF that did not sell at the swap. Those bikes and funds support those in need of a bike for transportation and recreation.

Also, our volunteers are at the Port City Makerspace most Tuesday and Thursday evenings working on bikes and accepting donations. Learn more about Seacoast Pedal It Forward here.

SABR Advocacy Efforts
Portsmouth - Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan update.
The plan update is expected to be presented to the council in May or June. We continue to advocate for reasonable steps toward a connected network in the coming years. www.portsmouthnh.gov/planportsmouth/bicycle-pedestrian-plan
